Built on Integrity, Backed by Love

At Chris Welsh Corgi, we don’t just breed puppies—we steward a legacy. Every Welsh Corgi we bring into this world is raised with meticulous care, genetic awareness, and a deep respect for the breed’s heritage.

We know that welcoming a Corgi into your home is more than a decision—it’s a promise. And we honor that promise with a clear, compassionate, and comprehensive 2-Year Health Guarantee—because your peace of mind matters as much as your puppy’s well-being.

🏥 The Foundation: Health & Care Before They Leave Our Home

Every Corgi puppy receives exceptional veterinary attention and early development support:

Full Veterinary Wellness Exam by our licensed veterinarian before going home
Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (including DHPP series)
Complete Deworming Protocol (3 rounds by 8 weeks)
Fecal Testing to confirm parasite-free status
Physical Development Assessment—checking spine alignment, hips, knees, eyes, heart, and lungs
Microchip Implantation (registered in your name upon arrival)

🧬 Our Responsible Breeding Standards

We never breed without purpose—or without proof. All our parent dogs undergo rigorous health testing through OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) and/or PennHIP, including:

  • Hip & Elbow Evaluation (OFA/PennHIP certified)
  • Patellar Luxation Screening (knee stability)
  • Eye Certification (CAER exam by board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist)
  • Genetic Testing for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC), and other breed-specific markers
  • Cardiac Screening via veterinary cardiologist when indicated

We never breed carriers of high-risk conditions unless paired responsibly with clear-tested mates—and we never hide results. Ask us anytime—we’ll share them proudly.

🛡️ Our 24-Month Health Guarantee

We guarantee your Welsh Corgi puppy against severe, hereditary conditions that significantly impact quality of life or require major medical intervention—for 2 full years from your puppy’s date of birth.

Covered Conditions Include:

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) confirmed by DNA + clinical diagnosis
  • Severe Hip Dysplasia (OFA rating of Moderate or Severe, or equivalent PennHIP score)
  • Grade 3 or 4 Patellar Luxation verified by veterinary orthopedic specialist
  • Hereditary Eye Disorders causing vision impairment or requiring surgery (e.g., PRA, cataracts with genetic link)
  • Confirmed Genetic Heart Defects (e.g., PDA, SAS) diagnosed by veterinary cardiologist
  • Portosystemic Shunt (Liver Shunt) confirmed via ultrasound or scintigraphy

Note: All diagnoses must be supported by veterinary records, imaging, and specialist consultation.

Not Covered:

  • Conditions caused by injury, accident, or neglect
  • Obesity-related joint or spinal stress (Corgis are prone—proper weight is essential!)
  • Mild or Grade 1-2 patellar luxation (common in many small breeds, often asymptomatic)
  • Umbilical or inguinal hernias (typically minor and repairable)
  • Dental misalignments that don’t impair eating
  • Behavioral issues or training challenges
  • Conditions resulting from improper diet, lack of vet care, or early spay/neuter (<12 months)

📋 Your Role in Upholding the Guarantee

To keep your guarantee valid, we ask that you:

  1. Schedule a vet exam within 72 hours of pickup or delivery
  2. Follow your vet’s recommended vaccination and wellness schedule
  3. Feed a high-quality, breed-appropriate diet (we’ll send our recommendations!)
  4. Maintain a healthy weight—excess pounds strain Corgi spines and joints
  5. Delay spaying/neutering until at least 12 months unless medically advised otherwise
  6. Contact us immediately if any health concerns arise—we’re your first call, not your last

This isn’t about rules—it’s about partnering to give your Corgi the healthiest, happiest life possible.

💛 If a Covered Condition Is Diagnosed

We’ll stand by you—no loopholes, no runaround.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Contact us with your vet’s diagnosis and full medical records
  2. We review (and may request a second opinion from a specialist—at our expense)
  3. If confirmed, you choose ONE of the following:

🐶 Option A: Replacement Puppy

  • Receive a puppy of comparable quality from a future litter
  • Keep your original Corgi—they’re your family, no matter what
  • No additional purchase fee

💰 Option B: Partial Refund

  • Receive 75% of your original purchase price
  • Your Corgi stays with you—because love doesn’t come with conditions

We will NEVER ask you to return your dog. Once they’re yours, they’re yours—always.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if my Corgi gets parvo or kennel cough in the first week?
A: Those are infectious illnesses (not genetic), so they’re not covered under this guarantee—but we’ll help you navigate treatment and provide support. Prevention starts with timely vet care within 72 hours!

Q: Does this guarantee cover IVDD (spinal issues)?
A: IVDD is often influenced by lifestyle (jumping, obesity, stairs) more than pure genetics, so it’s not covered under our hereditary guarantee. But we provide extensive guidance on spine-safe living to reduce risk from day one.

Q: Can I get a refund instead of a replacement?
A: Yes! You’ll always have the choice between a new puppy or 75% refund. Your current Corgi stays with you in either case.

Q: What if I move or can’t care for my dog later in life?
A: Contact us first. We’ll always take back any Corgi we’ve bred—at any age, for any reason. No shelter, no auction, no uncertainty.
